Aflac

Recently we have acquired a new pet. A large white duck has claimed our yard as his hangout. He looks just like the Aflac duck, so that is what the kids dubbed him. Apparently, the pond at the nearby park is not as enticing as our front yard. He's a rather friendly duck. He likes to be around us and just hang out, so to speak. He is fond of pecking our ankles just to let us know he's there. He also likes pooping in our garage. There is nothing quite like a new pet. We like to let our dog, Zeke, play with him occasionally just so he'll feel welcome at his new place. However, Aflac is not fond of Zeke. Unfortunately, the dislike is not enough to send him back to the park. Just the other morning Aflac was waiting for Jim on our front porch to share in the morning ritual of bringing in the paper. Jim was so happy. We'll keep you posted on our new pet. Until then enjoy some beautiful pictures of Aflac.

Aflac hanging out in the garage - Paige is so fond of him

Zeke loves to play with Aflac, but we had to leash him because, as you can see...

...Aflac is not so fond of him. The suburban made for a good hiding place.

We had a pet goose for awhile when we were growing up - Lucy Goosey. My memory is of having to race from the back porch to the swingset b/c she liked to nibble at ankles too. We had to take her and set her free at Nelson. For years, we could go out and my dad would call, "Here Goosey, Goosey, Goosey" and she would come.

Too adorable! We had a wide variety of pets growing up. Ranging from your normal dogs and cats to chickens, hedgehogs, hamsters, fish, turtles, lizards, rabbits, horny toads, etc. How fun for the kids! The pics are so funny!
